What do people get out of coaching?
Typically people who employ a coach are looking for one of three things:
To make their lives work better
Sometimes people have a feeling that they could be getting much more out of life, but they don’t know how to do it. People who employ a life coach usually are looking for support in making their lives more meaningful, more successful, and happier. The coach’s role is to help them identify and follow a path
through life which will move their life forward. The coach may also help them develop the skills they need to achieve the results they want.
To improve performance and results
These days, sport is a very competitive business. No serious sports person or team would consider competing without the benefit of a coach. They know from experience that they will perform much better if they have the support of a coach. If they perform better, they will get better results. Similarly Executive Coaches are employed to help CEOs and Business Executives improve their performance so that they will get better results for their organizations. Fitness Coaches are employed to help people become fitter. Students hire coaches to help them get better grades. Coaching can be used to improve performance in almost any area.
To unblock themselves
People who are normally effective and successful in their lives can sometimes feel that they have hit a wall, or encountered a problem they don’t know how to handle, or maybe even feel that they are blocked in some way and they don’t know how they are blocked. In these situations, a coach can enable them to move past blocks and open up new opportunities. This can apply in any area of life – for example work, career, personal lifestyle and well-being, relationships, finances ……..
The above could be summarised by saying that a coach helps those that he or she is coaching to increase their personal power so that they can make their lives work better.
You will probably have gathered that there are many different types of coaching and that coaching is used, formally or informally, in many different fields and areas of life. If you have any questions, or would like to find out if I can help you, please give me a ring on 02890391844.
